The Collaborative Innovation Center of Assessment for Basic Education Quality (CICA-BEQ) in Beijing Normal University (BNU) is the first and currently the only national collaborative innovation center in the field of educational measurement and assessment authorized by the Ministry of Education of China. Our aim is to improve the basic education quality in China, continuously enhance student achievement and global competence, and promote equality and equity in education. At the research center, more than 200 scholars, administrative staff and students work together to build a scientific and national monitoring system and provide accurate datas for education policy-making and management.

Position Description

The postdoctoral fellows are expected to conduct research in the following areas: Development of Innovative Assessments, Methodology of Educational and Psychological Measurement, Big Data Mining Methods in Monitoring and Evaluation, and Development and Construction of Big Data Systems.

Fellowship Categories

Category-I Postdoc Fellowship:

Applicants should hold doctoral degrees from well-known universities or research institutes within and outside Mainland China, which are among the top 100 in the four internationally recognized university or discipline rankings of the year, namely,

1.     Times Higher Education World University Rankings

2.     QS World University Rankings

3.     U.S. News & World Report rankings

4.     Academic Ranking of World Universities

or full-time doctoral degrees in Grade A+ disciplines of Chinese universities in the “Double First-class” initiative, or from equivalent research institutes.

Category-II Postdoc Fellowship:

Applicants should hold PhD degrees from well-known universities or research institutes within and outside Mainland China.

Requirements

Should be in good physical and mental health and under the age of 35, have held doctorates for no more than 3 years, and be able to devote full-time effort to CICABEQ at BNU at Zhuhai.

Have strong research background in psychology, education, statistics, computer science or data science and excellent teamwork spirit and independent work abilities.

Are fluent in Mandarin and English and are able to work and conduct research in English.

Meet one of the following criterias in the last five years.

1.     Published at least one high-quality original study as the first author or the corresponding author in a SCI/SSCI journal, or three studies in CSSCI journals.

2.     Served as PI for the funded project at the provincial-level or above in China and had significant research outcomes.

3.     Served as PI or the major author (the first three authors) for the research outcomes or projects recognized by the provincial-level or above department; or these research outcomes or projects have direct impacts on the policy making process. Evidence that shows the links between research and policy outcomes is required.

Responsibilities

Should work full time in the center once employed and undertake the research and tasks assigned.

Demonstrate abilities to conduct high quality studies independently or cooperatively based on the center missions. These studies show significant impacts on academia, practices, societies or policy making.

Meet the requirements of BNU postdoc performance evaluation.

Remuneration and Benefits:

Category-I Postdoc Fellowship: RMB 400,000 (pre-tax); Category-II Postdoc Fellowship: RMB300,000 (pre-tax)

Each successful candidate is entitled to a research start-up fund of RMB50,000.　Apartments for rent are available to successful candidates.
